The design is a stylised Hei matau (fishhook) it represents many things such as strength, mana, and a wonderful provider, as he was for his kids, sacrificing much to give them everything they needed.
I included part of the manaia (the birds head) to represent the extraordinary care, love, and guardianship he exercised over his children, and to those who knew him.

Many of the plaques we help create, incorporate backgrounds that have special meaning - in this case his favourite place and home club for many years : Ohariu Valley Golf club.
