Matthew requested a classic fish hook based on the style of one of my very first pieces - Te Whanau. I offered a few ideas to stylise the finish, I felt it was really basic and it needed something extra. Matthew was adamant - a classic look only please, and textured. I'm glad he stuck to his guns, I really liked the look of it and it reminds me of how I began.
I started with far too much stone. Matthew didn't want a base so I wanted a lot of stone on the bottom to give it stability while I worked on it. The only problem was I had to remove a lot more stone to get to the end.
